We’re continuing to work on new content and updates for Kōnae. Find information about our recent updates below.
The new content was suggested to us by people with lived experience. We are keen to know what information may be missing and what information it would be helpful to have on Kōnae. Let us know your suggestions by emailing contact@konae.org.nz.
The term ‘boot camp’ covers a wide range of military-style programmes for young people – some boot camps were (or are) compulsary (people were sent without a choice) while some were (or are) voluntary (people chose to go).
Some boot camp programmes were (or are) run by the New Zealand Defence Force, some by the Department of Corrections, and others by not-for-profit organisations.
We now have information about boot camps from the early eighties to the present day, so if you went to a boot camp you can find out how to request your records about that time.

Now you can find out about what sorts of records the Police hold, how you can request records about yourself or your whānau, and what you can do if you are not happy about how the Police have responded to your records request.
