Odyssey House is an addiction service that is part of an international network which started in 1966.
In New Zealand, there are two Odyssey House organisations – Odyssey House in Christchurch and Odyssey in Auckland.
Odyssey provided residential and non-residential programmes for adults and young people experiencing drug, alcohol or gambling dependence or mental health issues.
Child, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) referred young people in their custody to Odyssey for alcohol and drug residential services, respite care or employment and training. Young people could also be referred to these programmes at the Fraser McDonald Centre in Mt Eden as part of a Supervision with Activity Order from the Youth Court.
Odyssey now has programmes for adults and young people in Auckland, Waikato and Northland.
