You can claim redress through the State redress service if you are a survivor of abuse at a boot camp, while under the care or supervision of:
Te Puni Kōkiri Department of Māori Affairs will handle your claim if the abuse happened while you were in the Te Whakapakari Youth Programme between 1 January 1977 and 31 December 1989. During this period, Te Puni Kōkiri was looking after the programme.
The Ministry of Social Development will handle your claim if the abuse happened before April 2017 and you were under the care or supervision of Child, Youth and Family.
Oranga Tamariki will handle your claim if the abuse happened while you were under the care or supervision of Oranga Tamariki.
The Department of Corrections will handle your claim if the abuse happened during a Corrective Training programme.
