The Survivor Experiences Service (SES) is for people who have experienced abuse in care, and their whānau. You can get support with receiving and understanding the records created about you by different organisations. You don’t have to have shared your experience to get help with requesting your records. You can just ask for this service only.
SES can help you (or whānau and supporters you give permission to):

You can receive your records in different ways:
If you SES is requesting your records on your behalf, they aim to get your records request to the record holder within 48 hours. But how long it will be before you receive your records will depend on the record holder. SES can help you understand the information in your records at a pre-arranged face-to-face meeting with a local social worker.
If you are in prison, you may not be able to receive short-term wellbeing support in the form of an in-person meeting to help you understand your records. SES may be able to arrange a virtual meeting with you, but Corrections’ needs to agree.
After you receive your records, at your face-to-face meeting, you can ask SES to help you claim redress.
