From Auckland Council Libraries entry on Pakuranga Health Camp: "King George V Memorial Health Camp is officially opened at Camp Bay (formerly known as Hancock's Bay, today known as Half Moon Bay). The site had been selected in 1940 for its natural beauty and rural isolation. The first intake of children occurs in January 1950. The facility becomes known as the Pakuranga Children's Health Camp". Gender and age:mixed, 5-12 years. Capacity: 32 beds. Controlling organisation:From 1950-c.2000: Responsibility shared between Government Department of Education and Department of Health c.2000-present: Health Camp operated by Stand Tū Māia.
