A Disability Support Services provider Prior to 1992 patients were treated at Carrington Psychiatric Hospital (aka Auckland Mental Hospital) and they would hold patient records for the Waitemata District, otherwise majority is held by Auckland. Carrington Hospital opened in 1865 and by 1900 the Hospital housed 494 patients – 306 males and 188 females. Deinstitutionalisation of care from the 1980s and led to the closure of the Hospital, and in the early 1990s the building was taken over by Carrington Polytechnic.
