Established in 1923 as part of the Cashmere Sanatorium on Huntsbury Avenue and became a Fresh Air Home, registered 24/10/1954.
Governed by the North Canterbury District Health Board (NCDHB).
It closed in 1971.
PSUSI leased the property from NCDHB and registered it as a children’s home in 1972, and Little Acre Children’s Home relocated to the property in 1973.
From Care Leavers Australiasia Network - 'It was for the children of patients in the sanatorium, to build up their health and reduce the spread of tuberculosis (TB). An Open-Air School was opened on the site in August 1926. The home and school were renamed Hunstubry Home and School.'
