Located at 16 Melrose Rd, Island Bay, Wellington. Became 1 Albert Street (corner of Albert Street & Melrose Street) when a road was put through at some later stage. Controlling organisation: The Salvation Army. Third-party provider to State, faith-based. Gender and age: male, 4-14 years. Boys were transferred to Wallaceville Boys' Home in 1928. The admininstration was done in a separate building initially on the same property and that part of the property extended down into Mersey Street (probably part of the orginal 5 acre block bought in 1909). At some stage the land was sub-divided and the building and the Admin building effectively was on a separate title. Most of the correspondence and administration for the Boys' Home (and later various other Salvation Army insitutions) was sent to Mersey Street.
