Governorship comparable to how we use that word nowadays was with the Christian Brothers. They appointed the principal and Brothers as staff. The principal was responsible for appointing other staff, if there were any.
In the later years before 1983 there was an Advisory Board to the Principal which functioned as a Board though in reality the Principal was not mandated legally to accept the decisions of the Board (though I know of no instance where such a thing happened)."
