From the school's website: "St Paul’s College began as a Marist School on Pitt Street in 1884. St Paul’s College, Ponsonby, was opened in 1955 when Sacred Heart College was relocated to Glen Innes."

Marist Brothers - 1955-1989: Marist Brothers of the Schools owned, staffed and managed the school and boarding hostel. Brothers involved until about the late 80's.
New Zealand Marist Brothers Trust Board established 11 November 2004. Board of Trustees maintain and manage the school.
