It is possible that some records for this orphanage are held at the Whanganui Regional Museum in Whanganui. Contact details can be found here: https://wrm.org.nz/contact/ It is unlikely that the Museum holds individual records from children who stayed in this orphanage, however, they may hold more information about the institution itself.

Gender and age: Mixed, aged under 14 years. Controlling organisation:The Orphanage Trust Note: the Home was run non-denominationally. Though the Trust appears to have had Presbyterian connections, it was not run by Presbyterian Support Services. Operational period:Wanganui Orphanage on Alma Road opened in June 1914. However, it appears that the institution had been operating for around 25 years previously (1889?) at other addresses. Registered 23/3/1929, closed 18/12/1954. Further information:Based on Whanganui Regional Museum website and Oranga Tamariki records, it appears that the Orphanage closed on 1954 and the building on Alma Road was then used as the Headquarters of the Wanganui I.H.C. Society.
