You should be eligible for redress from the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) if you:
‘Coming to the notice of’ one of the above government agencies means having some contact with them that is related to care and protection or welfare.
If you die before your claim is settled, you whānau may be able to progress it.
If you were in the care of others after 31 March 2017, you should be eligible for redress from Oranga Tamariki.
If you were in care both before and after 31 March 2017, MSD and Oranga Tamariki will work together on your claim.
