1977: For example, the Salvation Army has adapted a number of its children's homes to enable it to provide day care for pre-school children. "The Nest'' in Hamilton and "Cecilia Whatman" in Masterton, are examples of Salvation Army children's homes running day care centres in addition to fulltime care of children.
Note: Oranga Tamariki had this home recorded as opening in 1918 but the Salvation Army's affidavit had it as opening in 1925. We have used the Salvation Army date.
