Some records are held by Archives New Zealand (Auckland), with Oranga Tamariki as the controlling organisation for any restricted records. Oranga Tamariki holds records about 'Hamilton Girls' Home from 1960-1989 and about 'Dey Street Residence' from 1999-2001. From Oranga Tamariki: Dey Street Residence was reopened in 1989 for youth justice and "likely to be closed in 1996". Hamilton Girls' Home was closed in 1990.
According to 'The Road to Hell', it closed in 1990, soon after the rebuild of the secure block in 1989.
