Making a claim can bring up a range of emotions. Find out what support you can get before, during, and after making a claim.
If your claim is with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) Historic Claims, you can choose to get a rapid payment instead of having an individualised assessment.
Getting a rapid payment is fast, but MSD will not fully assess what happened to you. If you choose this option, you receive a payment based on how long you were involved with the government organisation responsible for your guardianship or care.
The more time you were involved with the organisation, the larger the payment you get. The payment range between $10,000 and $30,000. Find out more about the difference between the rapid payment option and the individualised assessment option.
If you are at high risk of dying or suicide, or if you are aged 70 years or older, MSD will prioritise your claim.
If you have a claim with Ministry of Education Sensitive Claims, you can choose the rapid payment process if your claim is about Waimokoia/Mt Wellington Residential Schoolopen_in_new.
If you choose this option, you receive a payment without a full assessment of your claim.
