From 27 January 2026, all government redress agencies will calculate redress payments the same way. This is called the Common Payment Frameworkopen_in_new.
If you have been convicted for a serious violent or sexual offence, you will not be eligible for financial redress (payment) as part of the State redress process - unless the independent redress officer has reviewed your case and decided that you should receive financial redress.
If you are not eligible for financial redress because of your criminal conviction history, you can still receive other types of redress.
